Narrativas sobre a "tradição" gaúcha e a confecção de bombachas: um estudo etnomatemático

Abstract

The topic of study of this thesis is the gaucho “tradition”, specifically one of its cultural artifacts, which are the bombacha trousers. The following questions served as the orienting theme of the research: 1) What meanings can I attribute to the narratives about gaucho “tradition”?; 2) How are the practices of making bombachas constituted?; 3) How does mathematical knowledge operate in the constitution of such practices? In order to discuss these questions, contemporary theorizations on curriculum were considered and the contributions of the area of Ethnomathematics were examined from a perspective aligned with postmodern thought. The empirical part of the research was carried out through “ethnographic” procedures: seven people who make bombachas were observed and interviewed and a field log was used.
