dc.description	[pt] No universo infantil, o acesso à Internet se multiplica em grande proporção, facilitado pela crescente presença de computadores nas escolas, residências e áreas de lazer. Além disso, os sites infantis são amplamente divulgados pela mídia televisiva. Nesse contexto, a Internet representa um grande potencial de influência no aprendizado infantil, ressaltando-se a importância de proporcionar meios para que as crianças realizem as atividades sem quaisquer constrangimentos nessa mídia. Entretanto, percebe-se um descompasso entre a quantidade de divulgação e a compreensão dos sites infantis. E essa situação se agrava ao considerar o público crescente de crianças com pouca intimidade em relação às tecnologias computacionais. Para que a compreensão da informação se realize nas interfaces gráficas de um site, seu design deve estar de acordo com as necessidades e hábitos da criança, contendo elementos gráficos familiares e coerentes com o tema do site. Por meio de um questionário sobre os significados de imagens selecionadas do site do Sítio do Pica-pau Amarelo, a pesquisa levantou dados qualitativos que identificam nuanças dos repertórios de dois grupos de 30 alunos de uma escola particular e de uma pública. A conclusão da pesquisa reitera a importância dos princípios e pressupostos semióticos para o estudo da compreensão e significação dos produtos de design. O estudo desenvolvido apresenta ao designer bases teóricas para determinar requisitos gráficos e conceituais na elaboração dos signos que compõem uma interface infantil. Dessa forma, públicos com características específicas, como crianças, serão atendidos de maneira mais satisfatória.
dc.description	[en] In a child´s universe, access to the Internet has developed tremendously, facilitated by the increasing presence of computers in schools, homes and play areas. Moreover, sites for children are widely promoted by the television media. In this context, the Internet represents a potentially large influence on children´s learning, which brings up the importance of providing ways for children to feel comfortable carrying out activities using this media. However, there is a gap between the extent of advertising and the true understanding of sites for children. This situation gets worse when we consider that a growing number of children lack the ability to use information technology. In order for children to have good comprehension of the information by way of the graphical interfaces of a site, the design of the interfaces must be adequate to the necessities and habits of the child, containing familiar graphic elements which are coherent with the subject of the site. Through a questionnaire on the meanings of images selected from the site of Sítio do PicaPau Amarelo, qualitative information was raised. This research identified nuances in the repertoires of two groups of 30 students from two kinds of schools: a private and a public one. The conclusion of the research reinforces the importance of semiotic principles and assumptions for the study of the understanding and meaning of design products. The current study presents to the designer theoretical approaches in order to determine the graphic and conceptual requirements in the elaboration of the signs that compose a children´s interface. With the use of these requirements, a public with specific characteristics, as that of children, will be better served.
