dc.description.abstract | The knowledge of the drying kinetics a product is essential for optimization and development of
equipment and selection of the most specific conditions for each material to be dried. Drying is a
unit operation widely used in the industry and one of the most expensive. This work aimed to study
the static drying of cellulose under different conditions (types of dryers, temperature and air flow
rate) and the accurancy of experimental drying profile according empirical and theoretical
mathematical models available in literatura. It was found that the best empirical model to describe
cellulose drying at studied conditions was the Midilli model. The effective diffusion coeficiente,
calculated from Crank’s expression (1975), has demonstrated dependent on both temperature and
air flow rate. | |
