This thesis entitled “Inmaterial cultural heritage: interpretation since the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003), from culture concept´s dichotomy as tradition and as a claim for human rights”, is divided into three chapters. First, I approach the concept of "intangible cultural heritage" from its theoretical and institutional development at UNESCO. Then, I support the inmaterial cultural heritage´s debate with approximations to the “culture” concept from seemingly contradictory approaches; thus, in the second chapter, the “culture” concept is approched from tradition and anthropological postulates; and, in the last chapter, I focus in the understanding of the “culture” concept as an universe juridical development expressed in human rights and its diverse vindications.
