Idéias, reflexões e sonhos: Paulo Schilling, um jornalista engajado (1950-1964)
Description
The objective of this work is to trace the intellectual trajectory of the journalist and activist Paulo Schilling from 1950 to 1964. We used his collection in which he worked all his life, until his death in 2012, and left us as a record of his trajectory as left-wing militant of rural workers. Historian Diego Scherer da Silva was able to organize his material so that the entire community could access it, and he brought it to the Nucleus for Research in History at UFRGS, where we were able to analyze and discuss his main ideas. The main themes of this research are guided by the findings in its collection. Bearing in mind that Paulo Schilling addressed several topics during his career, we chose to highlight the agrarian sector, nationalism, the International Wheat Agreement and cooperativism. We chose these because we consider them necessary for the current economic and social scenario. For that, we used the books and manuscripts written by Paulo Schilling. The Hemeroteca Nacional also served us as a source, where publications by the journalist in print media can be found, as well as publications by other authors in which his name is cited as a reference in the themes worked on here. In this way, this research influenced us and reflects the agrarian context of Rio Grande do Sul at the time, the problems and solutions found by Schilling that ranged from the modernization of the agrarian sector to the social inequalities of rural workers and the poor distribution of land. Among the solutions that Schilling brings us is cooperativism, agrarian reform and taxation of landowners. The analysis of its collection allowed us to discuss current problems bringing the point of view of a specialist in the agrarian field and allowing us to expand the possibilities for the sector.CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior
