dc.description	The purpose of this work is to analyze what is understood by human trafficking, especially that which has the purpose of sexual exploitation, in the light of Uruguayan and international regulations. In International Law a modern definition of human trafficking is found in article 3 subparagraph a of the Protocol to prevent, suppress and punish trafficking in persons, especially women and children. On the other hand, in the Uruguayan legal system there are two definitions of the phenomenon. In chronological order, the first is found in the crime provided for in article 78 of Law n.º 18250 (Migration Law), while the second is inserted in article 4 of Law n.º 19643 (Law on Prevention and Combat of Trafficking in Persons. Amendments to the Penal Code). The analysis of these three definitions will allow a correct qualification of a situation of trafficking in persons. But, to understand this phenomenon, it is also necessary to distinguish it from another with similar characteristics: the illegal trafficking of migrants. Finally, jurisprudence cases are analyzed, with the aim of understanding how Uruguayan judges have applied the legal norms on this issue in specific situations.	en-US
dc.description	El presente trabajo tiene como objeto analizar qué se entiende por trata de personas, especialmente aquella que tiene fines de explotación sexual, a la luz de la normativa uruguaya e internacional. En el Derecho Internacional se encuentra una moderna definición de trata de personas en el art. 3 lit. a del Protocolo para prevenir, reprimir y sancionar la trata de personas, especialmente mujeres y niños. Por otro lado, en el ordenamiento jurídico uruguayo hay dos definiciones del fenómeno. En orden cronológico, la primera está consagrada en el delito previsto en el art. 78 de la ley n.° 18.250 (Ley de Migraciones), mientras que la segunda está inserta en el art. 4 de la ley n.° 19.643 (Ley de Prevención y Combate de la Trata de Personas. Modificaciones al Código Penal). El análisis de estas tres definiciones permitirá calificar correctamente una situación de trata de personas. Pero, para comprender este fenómeno, también es necesario distinguirlo de otro de similares características: el tráfico ilegal de migrantes. Por último, se analizan casos de jurisprudencia, con el objetivo de entender cómo los jueces uruguayos han aplicado las normas jurídicas sobre esta temática en situaciones concretas.	es-ES
