dc.description	Abstract. Social participation as a way of exercising a human right within a multiculturalframework is examined in the first part of this paper. After examining how both the liberaland the republican variations of this law are expressed and their framework of respect andpluralism, a distinction is put forward in this paper as regards political participation outsideand within the context of a political party. There is also an analysis of what this right toparticipate entails when honestly confronted with cultural diversity. The following thesis is examined in the second part of the paper: the multiculturality that encourages this participationis not only relativized and reinforced by human rights, but also the rights themselves are by them affected. Thus, firstly, several classic foundations are questioned, such as those of iusnaturalism, and the need to incorporate intercultural dynamics of participation arises; secondly, these dynamics lead us to redefine the specification of the rights, so that they remain universal – characteristic that cannot be waived – but at the same time free of cultural influences and thus open to internal plurality.	en-US
dc.description	Resumen. En la primera parte de este estudio se explora la participación como ejercicio de un derecho humano en el marco de la multiculturalidad. Tras revisar las formulaciones liberal y republicana de este derecho y sus enmarques en el respeto y el pluralismo, se propone una distinción entre los ámbitos prepartidario y partidario de participación política, y se analiza lo que debe suponer este derecho de participación cuando se confronta honestamente con la diversidad cultural. En la segunda parte se explora la tesis de que la multiculturalidad que llama a esta participación no sólo es relativizada y a la vez potenciada por los derechos humanos, sino que los propios derechos se ven afectados por ella. Así, en primer lugar, quedan cuestionadas las fundamentaciones clásicas, como las iusnaturalistas, y emerge la necesidad de incorporarles dinámicas interculturales de participación; en segundo lugar, estas dinámicas inducen a replantear la especificación de los derechos, a fin de que sigan siendo universales —característica irrenunciable— pero a la vez inculturados y, por tanto, abiertos a la pluralidad interna.	es-ES
