The present paper is situated in the field of comparative literature, aiming to connect literature with fashion. However, it is important to highlight that the focus drawn to fashion here is on clothing, which is understood as a way of nonverbal communication. (BARNARD, 2003; LURIE, 1997; MIRANDA, 2015). Thus, through clothing, we can communicate our status, our social role, our nationality, our beliefs, and, above all, our identity. Consequently, this paper intends to analyze the role of clothing in the construction of the character Robert Langdon in the novels Angels and Demons and Inferno, by the American writer Dan Brown, in order to observe its importance to the character's identity, and its function. To that end, excerpts from both novels and a literaure review on character and on fashion were used. From the analysis, it was possible to notice that Robert Langdon has his identity constituted by his clothing, and he is recognized and feels like himself through it. In addition, the clothing was functional, helping the character in the plot. Therefore, this paper has promisingly connected the field of literature with fashion by observing the identity of a literary character through its clothing.en
