This Master's thesis in Public Health, entitled "Eating patterns of climacteric women in outpatient care in southern Brazil", is justified by the need to know the dietary patterns of women in menopause, in particular the relationship between the menopausal state and the pattern to feed. The dissertation is composed of the research project, the field report and the scientific article. For the research project, a bibliographic search was carried out on eating patterns in women and especially in menopause and, based on this, the objectives were elaborated: to identify the dietary patterns of the sample and the relationship with the menopausal state. The field report contains, for detailed consultation, the description of the application used: for food consumption, the qualitative food frequency questionnaire was used, factor analysis was used to obtain the eating patterns and analysis of main components for the extraction of components. Person Chi-square and Poisson Regression were the tests used to verify the associations. In the scientific article, the results are qualified: five dietary patterns were identified, explaining 29.18% of the variance. Pattern I, called fruits and vegetables; pattern II, called traditional; pattern III, named branches; pattern IV, called prudent; and pattern V, called regional. After adjustment in the multivariate model, there was no association between menopausal status and eating patterns. Only age, education and independent income listed. These findings were discussed in light of the current literature, leaving perspectives for new studies and relevant data to be taken into account in the promotion of health in climacteric women.en
