| dc.description.abstract | The 2018 Brazilian election was marked by the proliferation of so-called fake news, triggered by mobile application algorithms that provide interactions between actors. In this context, the WhatsApp medium (mainly) was used as a propagator of fraudulent news. The decisive target was the political field, but, inevitably, it reached the norms of Electoral Justice, putting in doubt the foundations of contemporary democracy. In this dissertation, we document and report the gaps in the legal and communication field in the face of new media environments and processes, as well as the adaptive efforts of the electoral courts. However, the electoral institution - both in general terms and specifically in relation to fake news - has developed a “system of responses” in dialogue with other institutions, in conversation with actors and, in particular, in partnership with the professional press and the fact check agencies. These movements are reported from systematic documentary research. In each collection of documents, we try to make inferences. As for the epistemological foundations, we seek to drink from the source of knowledge, mainly from researchers in communication, such as: Ferreira (2016; 2020), Fausto Neto (2006) and Braga (2006). In the conclusions, we seek to explain these social practices analyzed from the perspective of mediatization through documents. It is also intended to show that the two processes analyzed - norms in relation to the new environment and in relation to fake news - gain productive intelligibility in the relationships suggested in interpretive schemes made from the epistemologies of mediatization. | en |
