The thesis subject is to research about youth, democracy and political participation looks like something that will contribute to confirm or contest data launched in other studies about the relationship of the youngsters and the participation in the face of the analysis of political participation. According to that, this matter raises special concern about this youth image that was built, considering them alienated about consumer culture, highly connected by social media and the new technologies, but disconnected about social and political issues, becoming the target of criticism by the media and scholarly texts. About the objective, it’s a matter of unveil some characteristics of the youngers in reference to the processes that happen in everyday life, by an intense contact with their own interface networks and organizational mechanisms. The formulation of the research question: The youth would accept the options of a social project that would take by the way of contribute with the nation through representative democracy? Or would that be a generation that receives and finds a way to convey a cultural inheritance, as such, something already shaped by society stably, by your rules and institutions, especially the high school? The reflections presented in this thesis was sustained by a literature review about the youth categories, share capital, political participation and empirical observation followed by an application of a survey to high school students of private and public schools in the city of São Leopoldo about the dimension of the political participation as a daily activity and the constitutive processes in their perceptions. In result of this, it seems that the younger generation doesn't know the relevance of politics with their indifferent and aversion behavior, perhaps will be convenient to check if this is the predominant form of comprehend and make politics in the country, not recognizing young people as privileged interlocutors.en
