dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this dissertation is to identify discursive strategies used in the editorials of the newspaper O Globo to build the image of the main figures of the impeachment, Dilma Rousseff, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Michel Temer and Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT). The historical relevance of the removal of the democratically elected president, Dilma Rousseff and the media representation of the main players image of the main players involved in the process are highlighted. The research is based on the theoretical assumptions of the Semiolinguistic Theory of Discourse, by Patrick Charaudeau (1992, 2005, 2008, 2015). The contractual relationship between language subjects and the Enunciative Discourse Organization Mode is investigated, which indicates how speech beings act in staging the act of communication, and Argumentative, which deals with argumentation as a discursive activity that aims to seduce and persuade the interlocutor. The corpus of this study consists of four editorials dealing with the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff, published in the newspaper between March and September 2016. The methodology used consists of a qualitative analysis, which considers the situations of global and specific communication in which editorials and identifies linguistic-discursive categories related to the components of argumentative logic and enunciative behaviors (Charaudeau, 1992 and 2008). Regard to the argumentative marks of the speech, it was identified, in the editorials analyzed, the engagement of the speaker in the defense of a thesis favorable to the dismissal of President Dilma and the expression of opinion, which disqualifies Lulism and the PT, through the delocative modality. Finally, it was observed that the editorials of the newspaper O Globo act as a social and political tool to pressure opponents and manipulate public opinion.en
