The shift change is a tool used by the nursing staff to perform the transfer of patient care information between shifts, ensuring continuity of care. Its computerization and systematization must ensure that this transfer is carried out quickly and safely. Objective: To develop a software prototype for nursing shift change at the Adult Intensive Care Unit. Method: study of technological production, with the development of a software for the realization of nursing shift change in the adult intensive care unit. In building the software prototype, Kanban methodology was used in conjunction with Scrum. The technology used was C #, most used for building dynamic content on the web. For the evaluation it was used the script of ISO / IEC 14598-6 (2004) and quality model described in ISO / IEC 25010 (2011). The validation of the nursing shift system was performed by 17 experts (09 nurses and 08 computer professionals). Results: In the evaluation of the expert nurses the functional adequacy characteristics were approved in 100%, reliability 50% of answers in agreement, usability 80%, performance efficiency 90% and safety 100%. Professional computer experts also rated the feature functional suitability with 72.9% approval, 58% reliability, 77.7% usability, 93% performance efficiency, 82% security, 80% maintainability, and 92% compatibility. Conclusion: this study showed the shift, shift as a computerized and systematized tool. Facilitating the transfer of care information to patients in the ICU, standardizing the language used among professionals, also aiming at a timely and appropriate passage, aiming and optimizing the time spent by professionals during this process of transferring care safely. Product: development of software for the nursing shift change.en
