The Matrix Support (MS) in mental health area is configured as a methodology of teamwork coordination with professionals and differentiated health services, aiming to support the construction of longitudinal and integral care networks. Therefore, this research sought to understand the perception of the professionals of the Centers for Psychosocial Care – CAPS, about the support matrix and how it influenced in their work experiences. For this, a qualitative and exploratory cross-sectional study was carried out. And semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten professionals from the higher health area, people who works in the caps of Imperatriz city for at least two years. The data were worked from the content analysis. Based on the research questions and interviews script, three categories were constructed: 1) trajectories and experiences of CAPS works; 2) Perspectives on psychosocial care in mental health care ordering strategy. It was notices that the relationship between trajectory, experience and theoretical knowledge of the MS theme, by itself dow not guarantee the effectiveness of this methodology, as well as the absence of manicomial, signaling the fundamental role of policy managers in the management of this care. The consolidation of psychosocial paradigm, that is, the implementation of care centered on the person and not on the illness, revealed that there is a multiprofessional staff composition, with a low degree of coordination, a high level of complaints, little integration between the different specialties and the network services. The management difficulties associated with the culture of exclusion and isolation inherited by CAPS workers made it difficult to implement interventions such as MS, transforming into a strategy that is far from the daily routine of their work. In this way, this study points to a constant need for a permanent training program based on the critical reflection of professional experience as a learning tool, together with the strengthening of collective spaces such as team meetings, user meetings, intersectoral actions such as channel to increase employee participation, in order to favor the co-management of activities and the construction of cooperative work processes that attenuate the obstacles of consolidation of the MS.en
