The research called “The Transvestite Body, The Memory of the Communicating Subject” is developed alongside subjects who define themselves as transvestites in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. To problematize the configuration of the communicating subject, the exercise of communicative citizenship and the discursive complexity starting from the construction of the body-discourse-gender system. The problem, object of the research, focuses on the configuration of the transvestite communicating subject, and the interaction with the media. In the theoretical dimension we have the contributions of Gregory Bateson, Lucien Sfez and the theories of the "new communication", to reflect the field of communication as a space in tensions and disputes of meaning built by the subjects that interact with the media, social and state systems. The transmethodology was established in a methodological horizon to think in a constructive and regenerative way about the methodological journeys that we were taking along with the contributions of transvestite subjects. From the critical perspective of the transmethodology, we welcome the contributions of Efendy Maldonado, Jiani Bonin, Nísia Martins do Rosário. The cartographic foil allowed us to enhance the complex and contradictory universe of transvestites, in order to find in the memory of bodies in transition the marks of media production. The body-discourse-gender system required reflection on the relationships of power, the construction of subjectivities in the processes of the subjects’ individualization, the construction of the sense of reality of the transvestite body and the mediated environments, as well as inquire about the binary straight normative gender. With authors like Michel Foucault, Judith Butler, Joan Scott, Felix Guattari, Walter Benjamin to reflect on the transvestite body as the place of the transitions, the singularization and the configuration of the transvestite communicating subject.en
