Sustainability in the business world is a theme widely discussed due to the constant changes that have occurred in the environment over the years. More and more organizations are looking for ways that their processes, products and services do not affect the environment around them. Among the fields studied, one of the main ones refers to the electric energy and its use in a sustainable way. This case study looks at different ways companies use to manage and reduce waste with electricity in their work environments. Based on this, and the results of a diagnosis, this research proposes a project based on Green IT practices and new technologies, aiming to implement efficient energy management in the Regional Council of Realtors of Rio Grande do Sul (CRECI-RS), in order to reduce waste in that context. The findings showed how much the CRECI-RS can save energy bills and contribute to environmental sustainability through better use of its hardware, choice of equipment when buying and changing lighting material.en
