This thesis aims to identify and understand permanence and ruptures in journalism practices and values through the discourse analyses on its very own crisis. It follows from a dialectical view which understands the present moment as an opportunity for a critical activity remake, based on praxis concept and exploring profession's potential to produce knowledge through digital social networks. Therefore, it embodies a theoretical contribution from Marcuse (1978), Genro Filho (1986, 1989), Kosik (2002) and Sánchez Vazquez (1977). Is starts defining journalism and its ideals from a dialectical conception, stressed by the context of crisis and marked by the weakening of the economic and symbolic power of traditional media. In the meantime, the new resources offered for the practice of journalism through the Internet and digital social networks create alternatives to transform the activity and its social uses. Assuming this tension creates conditions to denaturalize certainties, even journalists observation may be affected. For the research, semi-structured interviews were arranged to eleven professionals from three reference newspapers: El País (Madrid, Spain), Folha de S.Paulo (São Paulo, Brazil) and Zero Hora (Porto Alegre, Brazil). The insights collected in the interviewees' speeches are classified through the categories of reiteration, which includes aspects related to the reinforcement of practices and consolidated values of journalism; creation, which encompasses new practices and values; and suspension, which fits movements of experimentation, doubt and critical questions by journalists. At the end, findings emphasize the use of reiteration and suspension on observed essays, in detriment of creation.en
