This thesis is an analysis of the discursive strategies of a journalist from Piauí Carlos Castello Branco in his comments about political events engendered backstage at the central power of the country, served by Column Castello, in Journal of the Brazil, between 1963 and 1969. It ́s a documentary research, aimed at a case study, in which we seek to understand the Castello ́s assessment about 1964 coup and following actions taken by the military to consolidate coup and perpetuate regime. The study aims to try to enlist the arguments in the journalistic field, trying to identify the anatomy of discursive reviews of Castello: his arguments, his values, his place of speech and his attitude toward military in power. Uses as a method, the analysis of argumentative opinion, in order to interpret the content of Castello ́s comments, privileging the judgments that shape it and the circumstances in which it is produced. The research seeks to support the rhetoric of Aristoteles (1992, 2013), and the new rhetoric of Chaïm Perelman and Lucie Olbrechts-Tyteca (2005),in which the argument is understood in a communication situation, an action by the speech, whose goal is to provoke public support theses offered to him, and has the support of studies of Philippe Breton (1999, 2001), Michel Meyer (2007), Olivier Reboul (2004), Roland Barthes (2001) and Gabriel Tarde (1992). In the analysis, it appears that Castello establishes friendly relationship with their sources in the field of civil and political power of the military, which guarantees the place given to him in brazilian political journalism.en
